Traditional Weaving
Hands-on weaving workshop at Hotel Papanikola!
In collaboration with the traditional weaving workshop Tsakonika Yfanta, Project P.A.N. presents a hands-on weaving experience hosted at Hotel Papanikola, in the mountainous region of Arcadia.
This experience brings the art of weaving from Tsakonia to the mountains, inviting participants to discover a living folk tradition that dates back to the late 18th century and continues uninterrupted to this day.
Each participant works on an individual wooden loom, learning basic weaving techniques, the use of threads, and the logic behind the patterns that define Tsakonian textiles. The process is calm, creative, and immersive, placing emphasis on the relationship between people, handmade craftsmanship, and time.
The traditional weaving of Tsakonian rugs has been inscribed in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Greece, within the framework of the UNESCO Convention, as recognition of its cultural significance.
An experience that connects art, history, and place, within an atmosphere of hospitality and authenticity.
